Jack London (1876-1916) was an American journalist and writer. He went through the Klondike Gold Rush, saw the Russo-Japanese War and supported the socialist movement in the United States. He adopted his life experience for the breathtaking short stories and novels that tell tales of the Northern frosty wilderness and struggles of men - and became the first American writer to earn a substantial amount of money through his works. The collection includes London's three short stories: "Love of Life", a hymn to human perseverance and strength, "To Build a Fire", a story of arrogance in the face of extreme cold, and "The Mexican", an account of a fight, where losing a battle means losing the revolution.
